I took a quick look at the site. Lots of breezy generality but seemed to be short on numbers.
Dunno if it'd work, but it sure looks nifty. Good luck getting that waterfront property, though...
Yeah, I assume they'd be pretty cost-prohibitive. I think they're supposed to run about 21 million euros, before the real estate costs! It's still a cute idea. I'd like to see what other ideas people come up with. I know there are a few buildings in Paris in which they've figured out how to grow plants along the vertical face of the building. It would be nice to be able to reach out an office window and pick a tomato.
It's cute - if I lived there having a big ol' glass ball growing crops would be nice eye candy.
What this really is good for is as a beta for growing crops on Mars, in the moon ...

Or find a time machine and go knock Bill Gates on his butt before he setup his foundation: with the money he spent on that thing he could have solved the space access problem.
I think a space elevator is an elegant approach: but I mostly want to see that problem solved however it's done.
