Ali Eteraz
Pretty fascinating reading at the website/ blog of Ali Eteraz, a progressive, humanist, reformist Muslim philosopher. If you think that's a mouthful to say, I'm guessing it's not an easy road to take either. Glad someone's taking it.

Hes got a dry sense of humor too, from that remark aobut the photo he had to take down due to the lust it inspired. I bookmarked him. Hopefully he won't end up the subject of a fatwa, a la Salmon Rushdie.
I think he'll be okay. I still think the reformers are the silent majority in Islam. The fellow in Toronto who turned in the last batch of terrorists up here is still quite respected in the local Muslim community, and claims to have not heard a discouraging word. It helps that his father established a respected mosque in the city.
